Update #7 December 10, 2023

By the end of the year, we will have completed our tee box reconstruction, our new capillary concrete bunkers, all our irrigation and drainage, and lastly our lake and creek bank erosion control. What will still be left is the sodding of some areas of disturbance, our driving range construction, and minor cart path repairs. After the first of the year, you will notice a dramatic change in our parking lot where Frontier, our contractor, has been staging equipment and material for the past few months. All their equipment will be removed along with most of the other materials. However, just like I mentioned in our last communication, there still will be plenty of “clean-up” that will need to happen over the Winter months and into the Spring. Thank you all so much for your patience over the past few months and we appreciate everyone’s support for this exciting project.

Update #6 November 13, 2023

We are moving quickly toward the finish line of the project, which is why we wanted to make sure the Membership hears from Bruce Charlton. To keep everyone informed as much as possible right now Chris Brennan, our contractor from Frontier, has given us a timeline for mid-December completion. With any construction, there will be plenty of post-completion “clean-up” that will occur, from both Wedgewood and Frontier. As Bruce states in the video, he will then come back in early spring with Frontier to make sure we are satisfied with the project. The goal, as it has been stated since the beginning of the project, is to re-open the Golf Course around June 1, 2024. We will continue to communicate over the winter and into the spring any further updates on this timeline.

Update #4 September 30, 2023

I would also like to take this time to remind you that even though our golf course is closed, we have many other amenities for you to enjoy. Our culinary team with the leadership of Chef Fernando Mojica, has created a new dining room menu for you to enjoy starting this Wednesday, October 4. The Food and Beverage team has also put together a great Game Day Menu to make it easy for you to cater your party this football season. Please head to the Member App for more details.

Wedgewood is hosting a Blood Drive on Monday, October 9 from 10am to 4pm in the Ballroom. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community. Blood donation is always needed - not just when there is a major emergency. There are plenty of spots left to fill and you can sign up for your donation time here.

Lastly, our Golf Shop has created some special deals on all our merchandise during our Restoration Project. So, if you need any new Wedgewood Golf apparel this Fall, be sure to swing by the Golf Shop and take a look!

Update #3 | September 1, 2023
Our Golf Course Restoration Project is beginning its 6th week of construction on Tuesday, September 5th . Bruce Charlton, the architect, our contractor, Frontier Golf, and our team at Wedgewood have made great progress. The weather was wonderful in the month of August with only 2 weather events to prevent work from being completed. As stated in previous communications, the goal of this project is to move as quickly as possible so we have plenty of time to seed our areas of disturbance while we have great growing weather.

With that being said, we will be moving to Phase #3 of the project this Tuesday, September 5. This phase will include work beginning on Holes #8 and #9, #11 and #12. We will also begin our process of reseeding some of our rough areas on Holes #1-4. With the beginning of this process, the golf course will close for the remainder of the season. What will remain open is our driving range, putting green and short game areas. The Board, along with Management, are extremely happy with how the work is progressing and want to continue moving quickly to provide the best opportunity for our new golf course to grow next season. We want to thank you all for a wonderful year and we look forward to an even better golf course next season!

Also, with the Golf Course closing for the remainder of the year, just like normal, we will be adjusting our hours of operation in the Clubhouse. Starting the week of September 11, the Clubhouse will be closed in the Dining Areas and Golf Shop on Mondays and Tuesdays. We will be open for Lunch and Dinner, the Golf Shop, the Driving Range, and the Short Game Area will all be available Wednesday through Sunday moving forward. We want to stress the importance of supporting these areas during this process, so please be sure to check out our calendars on the website and attend the many events we have across all our amenities while the course is under construction. We have a wonderful weekend ahead for Labor Day and don’t forget about our Annual Clambake next Friday.

Some other exciting news that I would like to share is that we have partnered with Marion Country Club to provide a place to play while the course is closed. Next week, Wednesday, September 6, through Sunday, September 10, they are opening their doors to our members with a special offer to play their course. If this is something that you are interested in, please click here for more information.

Lastly, the following link is our second video update which continues our series of updates as we move through this project. The goal of these updates is to keep our membership informed of the progress being made on the Golf Course and will be sent out periodically during the following months. I hope you enjoy the video and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or one of our staff members.

Update #2 September 1, 2023

It is an exciting time at Wedgewood. Thank you again for your support of the restoration project. I look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Update #2 | August 11, 2023
Our golf course restoration project commenced in earnest this past week on August 1. Bruce Charlton, the architect, our contractor, Frontier Golf, and our team have made great progress. The weather has cooperated nicely these first 11 days which is putting us right on schedule. The goal of this project is to move as quickly as possible so we have plenty of time to seed our areas of disturbance while we have great growing weather.

With that said, we will be moving on to Phase #2 of the project this Monday, August 14. This phase includes closing Holes #5, #10 and #13. Beginning this Tuesday, August 15 our golf course will be available to play 8 holes and our tee sheet will remain open. The routing for our 8 holes open for play will be #1-4, then you will play #11-12, and then finish on holes #8 and #9. Also, moving forward with our tee sheet availability, any open tee times on Saturday and Sunday mornings will become available to all Secondary Members 48 hours in advance (Only Spouses and Significant Others). Our goal with this change is to allow all our members as much access as possible before closing the golf course early this Fall.

As a gentle reminder, we understand everyone is curious to see the progress, but once each hole is turned over to the contractors it is no longer a golf course; rather it is a construction zone. With large shapers and equipment, the operators cannot always see someone wandering into the construction area. It is imperative that all members and guests refrain from entering any area in which construction has commenced. As work progresses, our Golf Shop Staff, during certain hours will be available for tours. Please contact the Golf Shop with any questions.

Lastly, the following link is our first video update which will be in a series of updates to come as we move through this project. The goal of these updates is to keep our membership informed of the progress being made on the golf course and will be sent out periodically during the next few months. I hope you enjoy the video and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or one of our staff members.

Update #1 August 11, 2023

It is an exciting time at Wedgewood. Thank you for your support of the restoration project. I look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Update #1 | July 21, 2023

What an exciting time we have upon us as we begin another chapter in our wonderful Wedgewood history book! We have been planning, preparing and working diligently for over two years on our Golf Course Restoration Master Plan. Now we are just 10 short days until we begin the largest investment project since the Club’s inception.

My email today is to continue our communications for this historic project. Moving forward we will be sending more communications from the Club, which will be designed in a way to help clarify many topics when it comes to the golf course project. Our goal is to make sure you know what, when, and why, each step of the way, over the next few months. We will also be adding all our communications to the members-only side of the website, under the Master Plan tab, for you to view at your convenience. As always, if you ever have any questions during this project, feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help give you the answers.

Last month you may have seen in my communication to the members, the Golf Course Phasing Plan from our contractor Frontier. For those that may have missed it, please click-here to see the overhead view of all the phases. In this document, you will notice that we have Five Phases across our golf course that the contractor will be working on over the next few months to complete our project. Phase #1 will begin August 1st and this will begin closing golf holes. Due to the constant timeline changes during construction, we will notify the membership once we know when the next phase will begin.

CONSTRUCTION PHASES
PHASE #1 – Holes #6-7, #14-18

PHASE #2 – Holes #5, #10, #13

PHASE #3 – HOLES #8-9, #11-12

PHASE #4 – HOLES #1-4

PHASE #5 – Driving Range

PHASE #1
On August 1st , we will begin construction on Phase #1, Holes #6-7 and #14-18. During construction, those holes will be closed for play and we will be playing on an eleven-hole golf course once we begin. When you come to play golf on August 1st, our Player’s Assistants will be stationed on the golf course to help you through your round. You will begin your round on Hole #1 and play Holes #1-5, #8-9, then finish on Holes #10-13. All of our Practice Areas will be available as well. Also, a friendly reminder, you will not be able to post scores moving forward due to construction. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Golf Shop at your convenience.

Starting this Monday, July 24, at 9pm the tee sheet will be open for August 1 tee time availability. You will notice that the tee sheet will look the same as you have always seen it and if you wish to play more than eleven holes during the day, you will have the ability to place a second tee time, three hours after your first tee time if you wish. We also encourage you to check our Golf Shop “Daily Course Conditions Emails” each day before your round to see what holes are available to you.

Once we have a solid start date for Phase #2 construction, we will be sending out another email notifying you about hole closures and the playing schedule.

RECIPROCAL GOLF PROGRAM
Last month our Director of Golf, Dan Gage, sent to the membership our Reciprocal Golf Program Packet. This packet has everything you need to make sure you are able to play golf at other courses while ours is under construction. Please click-here if you have not had a chance to view it and feel free to contact the Golf Shop if you have any questions.

THANK YOU!
Lastly, from the Wedgewood Board of Directors, all the way down to our wonderful Employees, we want to send a huge thank you to all our members during these exciting, yet understandably trying times. It is not easy to give up your beautiful golf course during the season and all of us understand what kind of heartache that can bring. We can’t wait to show you what’s on the other side of this project and what your investment will bring.

Cheers to all our members for a wonderful, yet shortened golf season, and for a smooth Restoration Project!
