Dan Gage, Director of Golf

Dan comes to us following an extensive career in the private club industry. Most recently Dan was the 1st Assistant Golf Professional at the Heritage Club in Mason, Ohio. Dan has also worked at some of the best clubs in Cincinnati including Kenwood and Coldstream.
 
Dan grew up in a small town in southeastern Ohio before attending college at the University of Cincinnati. Dan graduated with degrees in Marketing and Management while also playing on the golf team.  Dan is an accomplished player with a playing resume that includes qualifying for the PGA Club Professional National Championship in 2016 & 2017.

Dan’s family will be relocating to the Columbus area later this summer.  Dan’s wife, Laurie, is currently an administrator for the Fairfield City School district.  They have two sons, Jacob (16) and Toby (12).

Geoff Newman, Head Golf Professional

Geoff joins Wedgewood after an impressive career working with members in private
clubs and resorts. Geoff spent 5 years at Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida
and most recently, 2 years at Four Bridges Country Club in Liberty Township, Ohio
as the First Assistant Golf Professional. 
 
Geoff has an impressive personal and professional education history as well. He
attended school at the University of Cincinnati, played on their golf team, and
graduated with a Business degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship. 
 
As a dedicated PGA golf professional, Geoff has many professional playing
accomplishments throughout his career, including: 
  • 2018 Champion of the SOPGA Legacy Championship at Worthington Hills
  • Country Club firing a 67 (-4).
  • 2017 PGA National Championship Qualifier and Top 90 Finisher
  • 2016 PGA National Championship Qualifier and Participant
Adam Grant, First Assistant Professional

Adam joins Wedgewood after 5 Years serving the members at Hickory Hills Golf Club with 4 years as the Assistant and 1 year as the Head Professional.  He received his PGA Class A certification in 2017.  At Hickory Hills, Adam organized and led the Junior Golf Program.  Before working at Hickory Hills, Adam spent 2 years as an Assistant at Royal American Links.  Adam has a long history associated with the game of golf.  He started as a caddie at Moraine Country Club, where he received the Evans Scholarship, when he was 12 years old and this built the foundation for his love of the game as well as the business associated with golf.  Adam conveys this lifelong passion for the game of golf and uses it every day whether it be in the golf shop, on the lesson tee or on the course.

Adam has been married for 10 years and currently lives in Westerville, Ohio with his wife Kara, his daughter Analeise and son Calvin.
 
Garrett Varanelli, Apprentice Professional 

Garrett joins the professional staff at Wedgewood after working two years on the outside staff serving the members. While Garrett was working with the outside staff he was also an instructor for the summer junior clinics. Garrett has been around the game of golf his whole life since his Grandpa showed him the game when he was just three year old. Since then he always knew he wanted to be a golf professional. Garrett has been working at golf courses for four years and has plenty of member experience. He also had a decorated high school career including multiple First Team OCC awards. Garrett’s love for the game of golf brings him a positive attitude and is a great addition to our Golf Professional staff.
 
Garrett currently lives in Lewis Center, Ohio.    
 

Joe Noppenberger, Superintendent 

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Joe Noppenberger has served as Wedgewood’s Superintendent since the club’s inception in 1990. Joe is honored to have been a part of Wedgewood since the beginning and oversaw the initial construction and grow in of the course.

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Joe previously served as an assistant superintendent at Sylvania Country Club in Sylvania, Ohio, and Brookside Golf and Country Club in Worthington, Ohio. He is a longtime member of the Golf Course Superintendents of America, Central Ohio Golf Superintendents Association and the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation.

An avid Buckeyes and Blue Jackets fan, Joe resides in Powell. He and wife Karla have two children, a son, Grant, and a daughter, Paige.
